Shrimp - Red Cherry (Neocaridina davidi)
Keeping Neocaridina Shrimp is easy, they are the easiest to keep of the dwarf shrimp species and come in a variety of colours. For this reason, they are most suited to the beginner aquarium shrimp keeper. Additionally, they are quite easy to breed and can quite quickly accumulate to very large numbers.
Key Features:
- Cherry shrimp have a peaceful and non-aggressive temperament, making them excellent for community aquariums with other peaceful creatures. They are active, social, and thrive in group.
- Temperament - good cherry shrimp tank mates are peaceful invertebrates like amano and ghost shrimp, and snails (nerite, mystery, Malaysian trumpet)
- Beginner-friendly care level
- Maximum size: 2.5cm
- Ideal water temperature: 18.0°C - 26.0°C
- pH range: 6.5 - 8.0
A basic cherry shrimp tank setup requires a 30-60L tank with a sponge filter, a heater and thermometer to maintain stable temperature, a live-plant substrate or coarse gravel. Live plants and ornaments are welcomed as the shrimp like to have many surfaces to forage.
