Danio - Gold Ring (Danio tinwini)

The Gold Ring Danio (Danio tinwini), also frequently known as the Tinwini Danio or Burma Danio, is a popular, peaceful, and hardy freshwater fish known for its striking spotted pattern—featuring dark spots surrounded by shimmering gold rings—and its tight, energetic schooling behavior, making it an excellent choice for beginner aquarists. It is native to the shaded river valleys and stream tributaries of northern Myanmar.

• They are active, highly social, schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least eight or more (ideally 10 to 15+) to reduce shyness, prevent stress, and encourage vibrant coloration and natural sparring displays.
• They are exceptionally peaceful and gentle, making them perfect residents for nano community tanks alongside similarly sized, non-aggressive species.
• Beginner-friendly.
• Maximum size: 2.5–3 cm (a true dwarf nano species).
• Ideal water temperature: 20.0°C - 26.0°C.
• pH range: 6.5 - 7.5.
• They prefer a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding spots (live plants, driftwood, and rocks) and a dark substrate to help make their metallic gold and blue-black colors pop. They thrive with a gentle to moderate water current that mimics their stream origins. Because they are active mid-to-top-level swimmers and incredible jumpers, a tight-fitting tank lid is absolutely mandatory.
