Danio - Choprae (Celestichthys choprae)
The Glowlight Danio (Danio choprae, formerly Celestichthys choprae) is a small, vibrant freshwater fish native to the mountain streams of northern Myanmar. It is highly prized by aquarists for its striking colors and active, peaceful nature.
Key Features:
- Should be kept in groups of at least 6 to 10 specimens to minimize stress and prevent nipping behavior.
- Temperament - peaceful and compatible with other small, active fish such as tetras, rasboras, and corydoras
- Moderate-friendly care level
- Maximum size: 2-4cm
- Ideal water temperature: 20.0°C - 26.0°C
- pH range: 6.0 - 8.0
They prefer well-planted aquariums with some open swimming space and a decent amount of water flow to mimic their native stream habitats. A tight-fitting lid is essential as they are excellent jumpers.
