Cory - Albino (Osteogaster aeneus "Albino")
The Albino Cory(Osteogaster aeneus "Albino") is a vibrant, hardy, and active freshwater fish known for its striking pinkish-white body, bright red eyes, and a brilliant, glowing pearlescent pink sheen that shimmers under aquarium lighting. It is a popular and excellent choice for aquarists of all experience levels due to its easy care requirements.
Key Features
- Generally peaceful, but they are active, social, and known to become stressed or reclusive if kept in small groups. Keeping them in a school of at least five or six helps minimize stress and prompts them to display their best natural schooling and enthusiastic bottom-foraging behaviors.
- Beginner-friendly.
- Maximum size: 6–7cm
- Ideal water temperature: 21.0°C - 27.0°C
- pH range: 6.0 - 8.0
They appreciate a well-planted aquarium with open areas for swimming and foraging along the bottom. Darker substrates and dense vegetation help their vivid albino tones stand out visually, while smooth sand substrates protect their delicate barbels from damage. A secure lid is recommended as they are capable of darting to the surface for a breath of atmospheric air and can occasionally jump.
