Cory - Adolfoi (Hoplisoma adolfoi)
The Adolfoi Cory (Hoplisoma adolfoi) is a vibrant, hardy, and active freshwater fish known for its striking off-white body accented by a bold black "bandit" mask over its eyes, a matching vertical black band near its tail, and a brilliant, glowing neon-orange or golden patch on its nape. It is a popular and excellent choice for aquarists of all experience levels due to its easy care requirements.
Key Features
- Generally peaceful, but they are active, social, and known to become stressed or reclusive if kept in small groups. Keeping them in a school of at least five or six helps minimize stress and prompts them to display their best natural schooling, playful movements, and bottom-foraging behaviors.
- Beginner-friendly.
- Maximum size: 5–6cm
- Ideal water temperature: 22.0°C - 26.0°C
- pH range: 6.0 - 7.0
They appreciate a well-planted aquarium with open areas for swimming and foraging along the bottom. Darker substrates and dense vegetation help their vivid black markings and intense orange napes stand out, while providing plenty of hiding spots. A secure lid is recommended as they are capable of darting to the surface for a breath of atmospheric air and can occasionally jump.
