Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae)

The Chili Rasbora is a great, somewhat shrimp safe tank mate that exhibits intense red  colouration which contrast well in any planted aquarium. Max Size- 2cm PH- 4.0-7.0 Temperature- 68-80.6°F (20-27°C) GH-1-2 KH-3-12 Endemic to rivers and streams of South West Borneo these tiny fish are often hard to find in the hobby. This is due to the small size of the fish as fry making them quite hard to raise. Many fish found in store are often wild caught as a result. These small fish are a schooling fish and will do well in as large a school as possible, 8 fish would be the minimum.

Feeding

Chili Rasbora are omnivores and will accept a wide variety of flake and small pellet food as well as frozen prepared foods. These include daphnia, bloodworms, blackworms, brine shrimp and mosquito larvae.

Breeding Chili Rasbora

These fish lay their eggs daily and if there’s enough cover some fry may survive in home aquaria. Although, to be successful they will need to be separated into a specific breeding aquarium and eggs separated from the parents as they are known egg eaters.
