Catfish - Peppermint Bristlenose (Ancistrus dolichopterus)

The peppermint bristlenose (Ancistrus sp. "Peppermint"; L181 or L183 depending on exact type) is a popular, peaceful, and efficient algae-eating freshwater catfish known for its striking black body with white spots. They are a distinct species from the common bristlenose and are a great addition to most community aquariums. Peppermint bristlenose plecos are hardy and adaptable to a range of water conditions, but they thrive in a well-maintained environment that simulates their natural South American river habitat.

They are primarily nocturnal and require ample hiding spots such as caves, rocks, and driftwood. Driftwood is particularly important as they will gnaw at it as part of their diet.
